Recap of our 2018 Annual Member Meeting

We hope you made it to Olde Mother Brewing last night for our Annual Member event. We had an excellent time meeting so many people who are passionate about cycling advocacy.

We heard from Frederick City's Mayor, Michael O'Connor and Tim O'Donnell, Emmitsburg City Commissioner. Both of these leaders highlighted the struggles of securing adequate funding to achieve their cycling infrastructure goals. They also emphasized the need for continued engagement from community activists like our coalition. Most importantly, it was great to hear that they hope, as we do, that the future of transportation will be less 'car centered.'

Last night was a unique opportunity for networking with local riders. It was great to hear from our members about the things that are important to them and listen to their ideas about how we can do a better job representing their priorities.  (You can always reach out to us with ideas via our Facebook page or website contact form.) The other conversation themes last night were advocacy and volunteering. I met several people who told me they'd be interested in volunteering to support an FBC ride or show up to a public hearing to voice support for cycling infrastructure.

We also received many donations and gained several new members. We'd like to welcome our new members Sharon, Greg, Scott, Kristen, Candace, and Mark! And we'd like to thank all of our generous donors that helped us raise NEARLY $1000!! Those funds will go a long way this year to help increase our outreach and fund other initiatives.

We deeply appreciate everyone's support. We exist as the voice of this community because of our members and sponsors.

Lastly, please continue to like and share our posts on Facebook. If you see something that you think we should share with our +1200 followers, message us and we'll use our voice.
